Paintings by celebrated artists such as Pablo Picasso, Claude Monet and Joan Miró were snapped up by wealthy buyers in a $190 million auction at Sotheby’s in London last night. 

A 1932 Picasso painting of his lover Marie-Therese Walter, Femme Assise Pres d’une Fenetre, was the centerpiece of the auction, selling for 28.6 million pounds (US$44.8 million).
